Shellburg Falls Hike

Length: 2.8 miles round trip
Elevation Gain: 410 feet
Difficulty: Easy

The trail starts at a gate on a gravel road. The property on both sides of the road is private property, so stay on the trail. You will pass along a field, a cattle pasture, and a tree farm. After 1 mile, you will reach the Santiam State Forest. Shortly thereafter, you will come to a bridge that crosses Shellburg Creek. Lower Shellburg Falls is below the bridge, but it is difficult to see. Turn left and head up the Shellburg Falls Trail. When you reach the falls there is a short side trial to a viewpoint at the base of the falls and the main trail leads you behind the waterfall.

This is the perfect adventure for those who aren't hikers or for young kids. The highlight of this hike for my littles were the cows. It was exciting to be so close to them and have them crossing the trail. This waterfall is like a smaller version of Silver Creek Falls because the trail goes along the back of the waterfall.
